Overview of wind energy projects

The Netherlands has seen the development of a great number of wind turbine projects. These are found mainly in the provinces of Flevoland, Friesland, Groningen, Noord-Holland, Zuid-Holland and Zeeland. Raedthuys Windenergie has had a share in them.

Olde Tocht wind park

Olde Tocht wind park

The Olde Tocht wind park has been running since 2002 and is one of the projects in the successful wind energy policy of the Dronten local authority. The positioning in lines along the wind direction behind the agricultural areas is considered rather fine by very many people. With their 48-metre rotors and 7-metre masts these turbines are a slender phenomenon in the landscape.

Annual production: 13,584,000 kWh, equivalent to the energy consumption of 4,000 households

Hoorn 80 wind park

The Hoorn wind park is small and is situated on the Hoorn 80 industrial estate. The project went on line on 11 May 1999 and at this good wind location the trusty Vestas V27 wind turbines provide excellent production.

Annual production: 1,400,000 kWh, equivalent to the energy consumption of 410 households

Solitary wind turbines

In 1997 Raedthuys placed its first wind turbine in Zeewolde on a farmer’s property. Since then, 30 turbines have been placed in similar circumstances by Raedthuys, with a capacity of between 660 and 850 kW. Apart from supplying a considerable amount of sustainable energy, these turbines give the farmers a welcome supplement to their income.
