Solar energy is a sustainable source with a lot of potential. Every hour enough falls on earth to meet the annual energy needs of all mankind. However, more development is needed to convert it to cheaper electricity. Currently for example, wind energy is much cheaper. The best way to improve solar energy technology is the use of it.

Not surprisingly Raedthuys is also on the verge of finally adding solar energy to its sustainable energy mix. In Enschede, a solar energy plant with an area of 2,300 m2 is currently being installed on the HST Group BV building (Transport Centre). It is one of the largest plants being built this year in the Netherlands. Raedthuys is investing an amount of 250,000 euros in this new energy source. The roof with the solar installation is clearly visible from football club FC Twente’s restaurant.

Meanwhile all the solar panels are now on the roof. Raedthuys expects that the sustainable energy installation will be ready for use before the end of the year. From that moment, the plant - which consists of over 383 Yingli polycrystalline panels - will generate approximately 80,000 kWh of sustainable electricity each year.
